logistics in India

In a candid conversation with Economic Times Global Logistics Show team, Mr. Vineet J. Mehra Managing Director at Go With DOT shares the motivation behind contributing towards the betterment of environment and the key factors that set DOT apart from the competition in the industry. He talks about how DOT is delivering service excellence and easily adaptable green solutions and the challenges faced by the organizations these days while building a Green Logistical Solutions. Mr. Vineet J. Mehra has about two decades of experience in sectors spanning from investment banking to trading of steel, metals and minerals, shipping, mining and alternative energy solutions. A serial entrepreneur, he has led various organizations in the past and has been responsible for multi-billion dollar projects.

What was your motivation behind contributing towards the betterment of environment through reduction in carbon footprint?
With DOT, we intend to bring electric mobility in the most widely used modes of transportation in the urban landscape. DOT offer services which are zero emission (at tailpipe levels), thus, helping the overall automotive and logistics sectors in reducing their carbon footprints. We also bring global best practices through our global presence in all spheres of our operations. Our vision is to become country’s largest operator of green and emission free vehicles, and to build long lasting sustainable relationships among the humans and environment.

What are the key factors that set DOT apart from the competition in the industry?
Our approach toward competition is different, as there is ample space for everyone. We believe that almost everyone in the industry have a unique value proposition. We see all the industry participants as the collaborators, which will in turn help the industry to grow at much faster rate. Anyhow, our value proposition is green and electric, which is a niche segment and there aren’t many players in the market yet.

How DOT is delivering service excellence and easily adaptable green solutions?
DOT’s culture supports flexibility, learning and is proactive to change. Thus, we are constantly on a look out for latest technologies which complements our service offerings and related operations. To increase our horizon in electric mobility, we are foraying into manufacturing of world class electric vehicles and have been test bedding our products in Singapore. Once added to our fleet, will make our services more affordable and green.

What are the challenges faced by the organizations these days while building a Green Logistical Solutions?
Major constraint is finance. In India, the most consumable vehicle is two-wheeler. However, the Indian banks are not currently lending on the electric scooters/bikes as they do for the conventional fuel ones. This makes the acquisition cost of electric scooters/bikes more than the conventional counterparts. For other electric vehicles, the government policies are not yet supportive for private sector to invest.

How is DOT is fulfilling transportation needs of a cleaner environment which is cost effective?
In India, currently our model works around PPP mode, which is People, Packages with the Promise of environment friendly mode of transportation for their destinations. Using technology as an aid, we use a proprietary mobile platform to connect riders and clients for their logistical needs. Our major focus is on B2B marketplace as of now, and will be soon expanding our service offering in B2C space.
